About Me
Hey there! I’m a writer living in an itty bitty Oregon town in the Willamette Valley with my husband, two step-daughters (BOTH in high school; prayers accepted), two boxers, and two cats. As you might expect, this involves a lot of clean-up. In between it all I sew and knit and tear stuff out of my overgrown yard.
I’ve joined the growing ranks of writers going the indie route; look for my novel River in the Sea on your e-reader (or in print, if you are so inclined) via Amazon, B & N, Smashwords, and more soon. I’m doing this with the blessing of my agent, Curtis Russell of PS Literary. I expect I’ll have a lot to say on the indie publishing sojourn but right now all I know is that I am excited to see how it turns out!
I studied creative writing at the U of O (MFA in 2002) and received the Leslie Bradshaw Fellowship from Oregon Literary Arts as well as lots of support from the U of O’s Center for the Study of Women in Society. Without the help from these stellar organizations, I would not have a manuscript to sell in any form.
I grew up in the Midwest, the youngest of four kids. My parents emigrated from Friesland, Netherlands (where River in the Sea is set) and decided to find a place even colder to settle: Wisconsin. That said, the Midwest and the southeastern corner of the dairy state are near and dear to my heart. Well, not enough to ever live there again, but enough to visit. (That counts!) Hopefully this site will be warm to you, and although no one else is allowed to live here, you are certainly invited to visit.
